Black Friday sleeping bag deals 2026

A big "% off" banner means little if the bag was already that cheap. We checked UK prices a month before Black Friday, so you can tell a real sleeping bag deal from a relabelled everyday price.

Black Friday 2026 falls on Friday 27 November, with Cyber Monday on 30 November, and many UK retailers start their sales a week or more earlier. Sleeping bags are a good thing to buy in a sale, because most people only buy one every few years. But a banner saying "40% off" tells you very little. Many bags are already selling well below their RRP, so the number that matters is today's real price, not the one the discount is measured from.

Why the "% off" figure isn't the number to watch

Each year Which? tracks Black Friday prices before and after the sales. In its latest study, of 175 home, tech and health products from eight big UK retailers, 83% were the same price or cheaper at least once outside the four-week sales period. That research covered appliances and gadgets, not outdoor gear, but the lesson carries over: a discount is only as good as the price it is measured from.

“Our advice is simple: take your time, don't be fooled by clever marketing and do your research.”
Reena Sewraz, Retail Editor, Which?

Our own price checks show why this matters for sleeping bags. A month before Black Friday, plenty of bags were already sold well below their RRP, which is the price a sale banner usually quotes as "was".

Already discounted: cheapest in-stock UK price on 28 October 2026 against the RRP
Sleeping bagPrice we foundRRPAlready off
Mountain Warehouse Summit 400£34.99£69.9950%

Mountain Equipment Helium 400£240.00£300.0020%
Rab Ascent -12 °C£305.95£380.0019%

So a Black Friday banner offering "30% off" a Sea to Summit Spark would simply match what one retailer was already charging in October. In our checks, Mountain Warehouse showed several bags at about half their RRP well before any sale, so judge its deals by the price, not the percentage.

The bags worth watching

We picked bags that are good buys even at full price. Most are sold by more than one retailer, which is where price competition happens. For each one we give the price to beat: the cheapest in-stock price we found at a UK retailer on 28 October 2026.

1

Best three-season bag to watch

Mountain Equipment Helium 400

Mountain Equipment Helium 400 down sleeping bag in blue
Warmth
Comfort 0 °C
Weight
820 g
Packed size
24 × 21 × 20 cm
Fill
700 FP duck down, 403 g fill

The Helium 400 is the bag we would buy for UK camping from spring to autumn: an ISO comfort rating of 0 °C at 820 g. Trekitt, Cotswold Outdoor and Mountain Equipment itself all sell it, so a cut at one is worth checking against the others. Price to beat: £240 at Trekitt (RRP £300).

Reasons to buy

  • Good balance of warmth, weight and value
  • Magnetic Lode Lock hood/collar closure works one-handed and with gloves
  • Smooth, well-baffled side zip and box-wall construction with no reported cold spots

Reasons to avoid

  • Slim alpine fit may not suit larger builds
  • Duck rather than goose down, and no hydrophobic treatment

Anything under £240 is a genuine saving on one of our favourite three-season bags.

2

Best value down bag

Decathlon Simond MT900 0 °C Down

Decathlon Simond MT900 0 °C down sleeping bag
Warmth
Comfort 0 °C
Weight
930 g
Packed size
11 L uncompressed
Fill
800 FP down, 495 g fill

Decathlon's own-brand down bag has the same ISO 0 °C comfort rating as the Helium 400, weighs only 110 g more, and costs far less. It is sold only by Decathlon, so there's no competition to push the price down. Price to beat: £169.99 at Decathlon, from its UK listing.

Reasons to buy

  • Published fill weight, fill power and independent lab rating at this price
  • Generous ~72 cm shoulder width for a mummy, full-length draught baffle

Reasons to avoid

  • Heavier than premium down bags of similar rating
  • Needs an R4.8 mat to reach its rating; no neck baffle reported

Already the cheapest ISO 0 °C down bag we compare. Any Black Friday cut is a bonus, not a reason to wait.

3

Best winter bag to watch

Rab Ascent -12 °C

Rab Ascent down sleeping bag
Warmth
Comfort -5 °C
Weight
1.35 kg
Packed size
22 × 40 cm
Fill
650 FP duck down, 680 g fill

For winter camping, bothies and the Scottish hills, the Ascent -12 °C gives a tested -5 °C comfort rating with hydrophobic down. Snow+Rock, Summits and Rab all sell it, so watch all three. Price to beat: £305.95 at Snow+Rock (RRP £380).

Reasons to buy

  • Independently tested ISO 23537 comfort rating of -5°C, from a UK-filled bag
  • Hydrophobic down and Pertex Quantum shell suit damp UK winters
  • The roomy wide-mummy cut and side-sleeper details give space for layers

Reasons to avoid

  • Heavy at 1350 g for -5°C comfort: Alpkit's PipeDream 600 is 990 g for EN comfort -10.5°C
  • Main zip is only 3/4 length

Anything under £300 would beat every price we found for it.

4

Lightest bag to watch

Sea to Summit Spark -1 °C

Sea to Summit Spark -1 down sleeping bag
Warmth
Comfort +4 °C
Weight
510 g
Packed size
8 L sack, ≈ 4.5 L compressed
Fill
850 FP goose down, 265 g fill

At 510 g this is the lightest sleeping bag here, for fast trips where every gram counts. Note that the -1 °C in its name is the limit rating. Its comfort figure is +4 °C, so it's a summer and shoulder-season bag, not a winter one. Price to beat: £270.87 at Alpine Trek, already 30% under its £386.95 RRP.

Reasons to buy

  • Outstanding warmth-to-weight at about 510 g and packs very small
  • Roomier mummy cut than most ultralight bags, suits different sleeping positions
  • Anti-snag zip-plow and water-resistant hood/footbox fabric

Reasons to avoid

  • Half-length zip limits venting and stops it opening flat as a quilt
  • Very thin 10D fabric needs care; high RRP

Already heavily discounted, so don't expect a much better price on Black Friday.

5

Best budget bag

Vango Nitestar Alpha 250

Vango Nitestar Alpha 250 synthetic sleeping bag
Warmth
Comfort +2 °C
Weight
1.6 kg
Packed size

Fill
Vango Insulite Alpha, offset double-layer construction

A proper ISO-rated bag (+2 °C comfort) for festivals, campsites and the spare-room drawer, from a brand you'll find on every UK campsite. Several independent camping shops stock it. Price to beat: £39.99 at Norwich Camping & Leisure (RRP £52).

Reasons to buy

  • Lab-tested ISO 23537 comfort 2°C / limit -4°C at a sub-£50 street price
  • Retailer customer reviews praise compressibility, price/performance, draft collar and adjustable hood
  • DofE Recommended and widely stocked, with a 250S short version for smaller users

Reasons to avoid

  • 1.6 kg is heavy for backpacking at this warmth level
  • No independent editorial review of the 250 found; only retailer customer feedback

Near £30 would put it among the cheapest ISO-rated bags we compare.

6

Cheapest 0 °C bag

Mountain Warehouse Summit 400

Comfort 0 °C
Weight
2.1 kg
Packed size
40 × 26 × 26 cm
Fill
Hollowfibre polyester

mummy

A tested 0 °C comfort rating for the price of a takeaway. It's heavy at 2.1 kg, so it suits car camping or a home emergency kit, not backpacking. Mountain Warehouse already showed it at "50% off" in October. Price to beat: £34.99 at Mountain Warehouse (RRP £69.99).

Reasons to buy

  • 0°C comfort / -5°C limit for £34.99 on sale
  • Buyers report good results for youth camps: "My son has used it for Cub camp & loved it"
  • Left/right zips pair into a double

Reasons to avoid

  • "The regular size was a lot smaller than I expected" and "found it restrictive"
  • 2.1kg and 40 x 26 x 26 cm packed - a car-camping bag

A Black Friday "50% off" banner here is the normal price. Only a figure below £34.99 is a real deal.

7

Best stocking filler

SOL Emergency Bivvy

SOL Emergency Bivvy with rescue whistle in its orange retail box
Warmth
Reflects 90% of body heat
Weight
108 g
Packed size
13 × 8 × 2 cm
Fill
Heat-reflective polyethylene, heat-sealed seams

Reasons to buy

  • Sealed seams keep rain and wind out
  • Tear-resistant enough to reuse
  • Rescue whistle and tinder cord included

Reasons to avoid

  • Non-breathable, so expect condensation
  • Narrow for broad shoulders

A small, cheap item, so discounts will be small too. Buy it when you're ordering something else, to save on delivery.

How to tell a real sleeping bag deal from a fake one

  1. Compare with the price to beat, not the RRP. Write down today's real price, from our table or your own search, before the sales start.
  2. Check the size and zip side. Many bags come in regular and long, with a left or right zip. Deals often apply to only one version, and popular sizes sell out first.
  3. Read the comfort rating, not the name. Some bags are named after their limit temperature, which is several degrees colder than you'd sleep comfortably at. Look for an ISO 23537 comfort figure.
  4. Watch out for older versions. Brands rename and refresh bags. Last season's version can be a real bargain, but check you're comparing like with like.
  5. Add delivery costs. Free-delivery thresholds vary, so a slightly higher price with free delivery can work out cheaper.
  6. Don't panic-buy. Which? found most products are the same price or cheaper at other times of the year. If the price isn't better than the one you wrote down, you lose nothing by waiting.

Your rights if you buy a sleeping bag online

Under the Consumer Contracts Regulations, you can usually cancel an online order from the moment you place it until 14 days after the goods arrive, without giving a reason. You then have 14 more days to send it back. The retailer must refund you within 14 days of receiving the bag, or of you showing proof that you've returned it. Check the returns policy for who pays postage. If the terms don't say, the retailer pays.

Frequently asked questions

When is Black Friday 2026 in the UK?+

Black Friday is on Friday 27 November 2026 and Cyber Monday on Monday 30 November. Many retailers start their sales a week or so earlier, from around 20 November.

Is Black Friday a good time to buy a sleeping bag?+

It can be, but only if the price beats what the bag already sells for. Many sleeping bags were already 20–50% under their RRP a month before Black Friday, so compare against the real price, not the RRP.

What counts as a good discount on a sleeping bag?+

Any price lower than the cheapest in-stock price at a normal time. For the bags in this guide, that's the price to beat we checked on 28 October 2026. A percentage off the RRP doesn't tell you much on its own.

Should I wait until after Black Friday?+

If the Black Friday price isn't better than the one you found beforehand, there's no need to rush. Which? found most products it tracked were the same price or cheaper at other times of the year. If you need the bag for a trip soon, buying at a fair price is better than waiting.

Can I return a sleeping bag I bought online?+

Usually yes. Under the Consumer Contracts Regulations, you can cancel within 14 days of delivery and then have 14 more days to send it back for a refund. Keep it unused, with its stuff sack and tags, and check the retailer's returns policy.
