How we test

1. 01

   Specs come from the maker

Weight, packed size, fill and temperature ratings are taken from the manufacturer's own listing. Where a brand is vague we use a UK specialist retailer's spec sheet and say which. If two sources disagree, the manufacturer figure wins and we note the difference.

2. 02

Temperature ratings must be ISO 23537 where they exist

The comfort rating is the figure we compare. The limit rating is shown for context only. When a brand publishes its own non-ISO figures we label them as such.

3. 03

Prices and links are checked every day

Every retailer link is checked daily, and prices and stock are read from the retailer's page where the retailer publishes them. Prices were last checked on 31 October 2026. We list the cheapest in-stock UK retailer first and the alternatives beneath it. Prices move daily, so the retailer's page is always the final word.

4. 04

   Editorial ratings are explained

Our thermal rating for emergency bivvies is a 1 to 5 score that rewards insulating structure first, a reflective layer second and a plain barrier last. It is a judgement, not a measurement, and we say so wherever it appears.

5. 05

Affiliate links never change the order

SleepGear is built by Pomipop. We earn a commission from some retailers when you buy through our links. Products are ranked by the sort you choose, and retailers are ordered by price, never by commission.

6. 06

   Images belong to the makers

Product photos are the manufacturers' or retailers' own, used to identify the product. They are not our photographs.

Every source we used

Manufacturer pages and retailer spec sheets behind every comparison on the site. Spotted an error? Email us from the contact page and we will fix it.
